NASHVILLE – Following the unprecedented success of Nashville-based, independent record label Triple Tigers Records, General Manager and Partner Norbert Nix assumes the role of President. Triple Tigers Records is a Sony Music Entertainment imprint in partnership with Nix, Thirty Tigers, and Triple 8 Management.

An energetic executive, Nix has more than 25 years of experience with major record companies in promotion and artist development, in addition to extensive skill in artist management, booking, publishing, and catalog acquisition. Under his leadership, Triple Tigers Records has signed a boutique roster of critically acclaimed singer/songwriters including Scotty McCreery, Russell Dickerson, Gone West (Colbie Caillat, Justin Young, Nelly Joy, and Jason Reeves), and Cam, who recently joined the label in a first-time partnership with RCA Records New York.

Since its creation in 2016, Triple Tigers Records has quickly become one of Nashville’s powerhouse record labels. Racking up six, consecutive No. 1 records and accumulating multiple Gold and Platinum certifications would be impressive stats for any label much less a gutsy startup with a small but tireless staff assembled and lead by Nix.

“Less is more,” said Nix. “We have a talented and experienced staff and a small, but exceptional group of artists who understand that they have our total support. We aren’t stepping on ourselves with a bloated roster. In our fourth year, we are in the black, and things are good – unusually good.”

As much head coach as label head, Nix – a Silver All-World Ironman (2015) and accomplished triathlete – brings a disciplined work ethic and competitive edge to the job. Focused and driven, Nix is equally at home in the winner’s circle celebrating victories and lavishing credit on the people he considers his team.

And the Triple Tigers team has had plenty to celebrate. Debut artist Dickerson has achieved three, back-to-back No. 1 hits (double Platinum-certified “Yours,” Platinum-certified “Blue Tacoma,” and Platinum-certified “Every Little Thing”) from his RIAA Gold-certified album Yours.Dickerson’s current hit, “Love You Like I Used To” from his upcoming second album, is quickly climbing the country charts. The label’s second signing, ACM and CMT Award-winning McCreery, earned three, back-to-back No. 1 hits (double Platinum-certified “Five More Minutes,” Platinum-certified “This is It,” and Gold-certified “In Between”) from his RIAA Gold-certified album Seasons Change, which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. McCreery recently released his new single, “You Time,” from his upcoming new album due next summer. Gone West, the label’s third act, which includes Grammy Award-winner Caillat in the group lineup, just released its debut album Canyons featuring the first single “What Could’ve Been,” which received the most first-week adds by a debut artist in 2019. The label’s fourth signing, Cam, has achieved multi-Platinum certifications and numerous Grammy, ACM, and CMA nominations. Triple Tigers Records just released her new single “Classic” in July and her album will be released later this year.

Prior to launching Triple Tigers Records, Nix built a diverse, multi-faceted career guiding the careers and creating lasting legacies for some of the format’s biggest stars and future Country Music Hall of Famers.

Nix began his career in 1987 as a manager with Century City Artist Management representing the Desert Rose Band. He readily recalls the days when the route to the Grand Ole Opry was a two-lane road and Roy Acuff was standing next to him in the wings, while the band performed on the venerated stage.

In 1989, he segued to sister venture, the Jim Halsey Company as a booking agent representing a distinguished roster including Tammy Wynette, Waylon Jennings, and Clint Black. Nix went on to hold significant positions at the leading labels and management companies of the day. In 1990, he joined Mercury Records as VP of Promotion and Artist Development where he stewarded the success of Shania Twain, Toby Keith, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sammy Kershaw, Terri Clark, and Kentucky Headhunters. In 2001, he was named VP at Refugee Artist Management (Jo Dee Messina).

In 2005, Nix handled music catalog acquisition for ole Rights Management before leaving to join RCA Nashville as Director of National Promotion in 2006 working with Jimmy Buffet, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Jake Owen, and Chis Young. In 2010, he was named VP of Promotion for Columbia Nashville where he helped bolster the careers of Maren Morris, Chase Rice, and multi-time Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney, achieving an unparalleled four, back-to-back No. 1 singles from Chesney’s American Kids.

Even with proven success, Nix does not take the future for granted.

“There will always be challenges, but as long as we nurture our artists, support their creativity, and help them achieve their goals, we will find success,” he said. “That’s where the drive and focus comes from. It goes back to one thing – great music – and how that shapes people’s lives. When you have that, everything else falls into place.”

Nix is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He is a member of ASCAP, CMA, and ACM.
