MV2 ENTERTAINMENT ARTIST/SONGWRITERS SPOTLIGHTED ON “PSE’S WILD OUTDOORS”
NASHVILLE – Viewers and fans who tune in to “PSE’s Wild Outdoors” on The Sportsman’s Channel Aug. 9, are in for a real treat. Show host Jay Gregory, will introduce the series’ new theme song, which was written specifically for “PSE’s Wild Outdoors” by MV2 Entertainment artist/songwriters.
MV2 Entertainment is an artist development, management, and music publishing company in Nashville, which represents an accomplished roster of songwriter/artists including Nora Collins, Eric Dodd, David Fanning, and Terry McBride.
And, yes, there’s a story behind the song.
Earlier this year, Gregory was a guest of MV2 Entertainment at their Second Annual Turkey Hunt and Songwriters Retreat held at the J.L. Bar Ranch and Resort near Sonora, TX. While there, he shot a show for The Sportsman Channel that featured the great turkey hunting at the Ranch.
“With 13,000-plus acres of prime habitat, the J.L. Bar Ranch and Resort is an ideal place to hunt and shoot a hunting show,” Gregory said. “It is especially great for bowhunters like me because of the superb habitat management, which results in abundant game.”
Gregory hunts turkeys with a bow and is famous for making his patented head shots on the big birds at close range.
After the day’s hunting, Gregory joined the MV2 crew for impromptu rounds of hunting stories and music each night. During one of the gatherings, several of the MV2 artists collected around the grand piano in the lodge and wrote the theme song – appropriately titled, “Wild Outdoors.”
“Having Jay at the Ranch provided great inspiration for our songwriters – most of whom are turkey hunters,” said Tony Harrell, MV2 Entertainment General Manager. “And Jay was such a great collaborator in the process tossing out ideas and catch phrases that resulted in a great new theme song for his show.”
While the songwriters were creating the song, Gregory and his crew were able to film the entire process, which will be part of the Aug. 9 show. Harrell, along with Robert Arthur, Collins, Dodd, Nick Donley, Fanning, and Clay Mills all contributed to the catchy theme.
As well as being a hunter and semi-pro golfer, Gregory has a long-time passion for music of all types and has played drums for many years in what he calls a “hair” band that plays ‘80s rock covers.
“I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to come to Texas and shoot an episode of ‘PSE’s Wild Outdoors’ at the J.L. Bar Ranch and Resort and at the same time get together with some of the most creative musicians I’ve ever met,” Gregory enthused. “And, to have MV2 Entertainment create a theme song for my show – all I can say is WOW!”
The final recording of the theme song took place in Nashville with Gregory playing drums on the track. And, yes, his crew got that on film, too.
