AWARD-WINNING RADIO BROADCASTER KIM LESLIE ANNOUNCES PLANNED DEPARTURE FROM MIX 92.9 MORNING SHOW AS SHE PREPARES TO LAUNCH A CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
NASHVILLE – After three decades as a radio personality and music industry leader, Kim Leslie is leaving the market-leading Mix 92.9 morning show as she prepares to launch a charitable foundation this spring.
“After 10 years in the lead chair of the most successful morning radio show in Nashville, I felt it was time to draw on my experience and my resources to create a foundation that leaves everyone smiling.” Leslie said. “I am very fortunate to have the full support of my colleagues at WJXA and Midwest Communications who have encouraged my professional growth by supporting a transition plan that benefits everyone involved.”
Leslie will announce details for the charitable foundation later. In the meantime, she will continue working at the station while Midwest Communications searches for her replacement.
“Kim has been a major contributor to the success of the station over the past decade,” said Barb Bridges, Operations Manager. “We wish her well and we are pleased to continue working with her while she transitions into this exciting, new opportunity. With her tenacity and talent, we are looking forward to seeing where this will lead her.”
Among Leslie’s many career achievements, from 1986 to 2007 she hosted a variety of terrestrial and satellite programs including major markets and nationally syndicated shows. She was a record promoter as well as Director of Talent Relations for a live, syndicated country program. While at the Country Music Association (CMA), she created the annual industry CMA Directory and the National Broadcast Personality of the Year Award. Leslie also served many years on the Country Radio Broadcaster (CRB) Board of Directors and Agenda Committee for the annual Country Radio Seminar (CRS).
“I’ve enjoyed a very successful radio career,” said Leslie. “I’ve built programs I’m proud of and delivered undeniable ratings success, but this is an opportunity to make a difference in an exciting new way. That will be my focus.”
